I always tape my right ankle before the left one

Ýmir Örn started playing professional handball in Iceland at only 17 years old. We are curious to know whatinitially attracted him to the sport. He shared "One day, I decided to go to a try-out practice at my local neighbourhood team, Valur, along with a few friends. I felt so welcomed that I just kept showing up."

Many athletes have pre-game rituals or superstitions and when asked about this, Ýmir mentioned "I always tape my right ankle before the left one"

Ýmir is not the first or last player to mention the neighbourhood they grew up in as their favorite place in Iceland, for him it's "Hlíðar".

Having lived in Germany since 2020, Ýmir was asked about his favorite place there, and he pointed to the beautiful city of Heidelberg, not far from where he lives.

But who is Ýmir's favorite player of all time? "I'd have to say Alexander Petterson".

Aside from being a skilled handball player, Ýmir also revealed a hidden talent: "I can lick my nose."

When asked about which songs get him hyped for games, he shared that any up-beat, feel-good song will do the trick.
