Haukur Þrastarson, born 14 April 2001, is an Icelandic handball player for Industria Kielce and the Icelandic national team.
Haukur made history in 2019, when he became the youngest player ever to represent Iceland at the World Men's Handball Championship.

Haukur Þrastarson is one of the many players on the Icelandic national team who come from Selfoss, a small town in the southern region of Iceland.
Acknowledged for his exceptional talent at an early age, Haukur began playing for the "first team" of his hometown club Selfoss in the Icelandic Premier League when he was just 15 years old. He has earned the title of the most promising player in the premier league twice.
In 2019, Haukur made history by becoming the youngest player ever to represent the Icelandic national team, achieving this milestone at the age of 17. The following year, in 2020, he signed with the Polish team Industria Kielce.
We are curious to hear why Haukur started playing handball in the first place. "My older siblings played handball, so it was never really a question whether I would start, just a matter of when."
When asked about his pre-game routine or rituals, the young player shared, "I always take a nap before games".
It comes as no surprise that Selfoss is Haukur's favorite place in Iceland, a fondness he shares with a few of his teammates. When asked about his favorite place in Germany, he mentiones Berlin.
Ólafur Stefánsson, a highly influential figure in Icelandic handball, served as the captain of the national team for many years. When players were questioned about their all-time favorite athletes, Haukur was among those who mentioned Ólafur.
